Hellsakura e Kamisori: unindo Brasil e Japão via underground – Este é o ano do centenário da imigração japonesa no Brasil e a comemoração também se estende ao underground. Mostrando a verve punk rocker dos dois países, o Split – lançado por Karasu Killer (Japão) e as brasileiras Ataque Frontal e Úlcera Brutal – traz do lado verde e amarelo o Hellsakura, e do nipônico o Kamisori. As longínquas 24 horas que, por céus, separam os países caem por terra aqui.Cada um mostra sua potência a seu modo, primeiro os paulistanos do Hellsakura, comandados pela sempre atuante Cherry (Okotô, Hats) na guitarra/voz, e suas nove enfurecidas faixas. O trio, que é completo por Bart (Astronautas) na bateria e o baixista Napalm que assina a arte, se arma de um som coeso, simples e cheio ao mesmo tempo. Em inglês eles contagiam com “You Punk, You Rock” e “Metalbox”, que se destaca ao abrir o disco e chega a entoar um Go Kamisori Go! aos amigos lá do outro lado do globo. Outra homenagem prestada é aos pioneiros Ramones e está em “Gabbaroll”, em português mesmo, onde o convite ao pogo é feito inconscientemente.Em “Janela Suja”, as características do Hellsakura afloram: rock de pegada punk e letras sem lugar-comum que crescem com os vocais espevitados de Cherry. O rock sujo “3x Não”, a crua (e romântica às avessas) “Ponta Cabeça” e a hipnotizante “Meu Nick Não Pára” também seguem esta linha.

Para encerrar seu lado, o Hellsakura explodiu em dose dupla com “Mel Para Os Ouvidos” e “Sem Resposta”. A seqüência tensa e indignada parece uma única canção onde em bases “quebradas” e agressivas mostram que além dos citados Ramones, a banda contém referências de Motörhead, Helmet e L7. Apesar de ter estreado nos palcos há apenas dois anos, o trio já contabiliza participações em programas de TV (MTV, Multishow), entrevista na bíblia punk japonesa Doll Magazine e shows pelo Brasil.

O lado B do Split é reservado ao psychobilly devastador do Kamisori, onde sem piedade eles jogam o Godzilla e o Jaspion pro mosh! Regido pelo slapbass de Hitoshi, o quinteto não dispensa aquela barulheira boa da Terra do Sol Nascente. Entre as sete pedradas, a faixa-homônima e “Kamisori Life” seguem na velocidade do Trem Bala, enquanto “Kamisori In The Sun” e “Bollocks” mantêm, teoricamente, o andamento de nossos metrôs. Sem passarem dos dois minutos, as faixas esbanjam vigor, como “Kamisori Boy, Kamisori Girl” e “Kamisori Life”.

Se a distância (física) entre Brasil e Japão é enorme, a similaridade pode aparecer através de moicanos, energia musical e qualidade underground. É o que Hellsakura e Kamisori nos fazem crer com este Split!

Hellsakura and Kamisori : Uniting Brazil & Japan through the underground

This year the centenary of the Japanese immigration is celebrated in Brazil and the commemoration extended to the underground. Showing the punk rocker verve from these two countries, the Split – released by Karasu Killer (Japan) and by Brazilian labels Ataque Frontal and Ulcera Brutal – brings us Hellsakura from Brazil and Kamisori from Japan. The distant 24 hours that separate these two countries by sky are forgotten here.

Each band shows their own power, first the Brazilians of Hellsakura, commanded by Cherry (Okotô,Hats)on guitars /vocals, with nine furious tracks. The power trio, completed by Bart (Astronautas) on drums and bass player Napalm who signs the art cover, plays a consistent sound, simple and full at the same time. Contagious tracks such as “You Punk, You Rock” and “Metal Box” are sung in English, the latter standing out as the introduction of the CD and sending a Go Kamisori Go! to friends on the other side of the planet. Another tribute is paid in Portuguese to pioneer Ramones with “Gabba Roll” and the invitation to pogo is done unconsciously. In “Janela Suja” , the Hellsakura characteristics are in evidence: punch rock with punk attack and different lyrics that grow with Cherry´s lively vocals. The dirty rock “3 X Não”, the crude and romantic “Ponta Cabeça” and more the hypnotic track “Meu Nick Não Pára” follow this same style.

Bringing their side to a close, Hellsakura explodes in double dose with “Mel Para Os Ouvidos” and “Sem Resposta”. This tense and angry sequence seems to be one song only and “broken and aggressive bases show us that besides the afore mentioned Ramones, they are also influenced by bands such as Motorhead, Helmet and L7.Although they only started playing 2 years ago, the trio has appeared on many TV shows (MTV, Multishow), did interviews for Doll Magazine, the Japanese punk bible and played many gigs throughout Brazil.

The B side of the Split is reserved to the devastating psychobilly of Kamisori who, showing no pity whatsoever, throw Godzilla and Jaspion into the mosh pit. Conducted by Hitoshi´s slap bass, the quintet plays all that good noise from the land of the Rising Sun. Among the seven explosive tracks, the homonym track and “Kamisori Life” follow with the same speed as the High Speed Railway, while “Kamisori In The Sun” and “Bollocks” theoretically develop with the same speed of the Brazilian subway trains. No longer than 2 minutes, tracks such as “Kamisori Boy, Kamisory Girl” and “Kamisori Life” show high energy.

If the (physical) distance between Brazil and Japan is enormous, the similarity can be seen with the Mohicans, musical energy and underground quality. That’s what Hellsakura and Kamisori lead us to believe with this split!
